Hi! I’m Gemma and I’ve been blogging since 2015. My blog is mainly food and lifestyle, with the occasional book review thrown in!
I began blogging in 2015 as I had just completed an undergraduate degree in English Literature and needed something to fill the void. A few people suggested starting a blog, although I didn’t really know where I was going with it. It took a good couple of years to be honest to solidify what I wanted to put out there and what my little corner of the internet would look like.
I’ve been passionate about food for years. I have always loved creating recipes and meals from random ingredients. Over the past few years, I have definitely refined what I can do in the kitchen and I am self-taught. Cooking is my escape from reality. I would love to write a cookbook one day. All of my recipes are accessible and any homecook (beginner or not) would be able to cook them. Spicy food is my favourite and one of my biggest strengths. I just love how much flavour you can get into a meal. I’m a huge feeder and nothing gives me more pleasure than cooking for other people and seeing them enjoy it.
On my blog you may also find blog posts about mental health, life updates and book reviews. I absolutely adore reading and will always have a book on the go. I mainly read thrillers and historical fiction, mainly WWII. I have a Masters degree in Creative Writing and wrote my dissertation on the War in the Far East. It’s a piece of work I’m proud of, and again, would love to extend one day into a novella.
I live in Essex with my fiance, Tom, our 2 year old cockapoo dog, Hendricks (named after the gin, not Jimmy), and I’m currently pregnant with our first baby, due in April. It’s an exciting time for us and we’re very excited to have our little bubba. I use social media daily and over the last 6 months or so, I have focused on that more than blogging. But as I’m about to be a mum to a little human, I really wanted to get back into blogging. I have a million recipes in my notebook but haven’t put them out there yet! Hopefully that will now change.
If you’re on Instagram, Facebook, Goodreads or Twitter, feel free to give me a follow. I try to post varied content and I’m always learning from others!
